Modern Parables

Justin Taylor has been advertising these videos pretty heavily on his blog. The videos are modern parallels of the parables of Jesus. They come along with study guide material which could easily be used for small groups or Sunday School classes. I must say that I truly appreciate the quality of these videos. Some of the acting can be overexagerated, but that seems to be done only to stress the point of the parable. Its refreshing to see Christians using the talents God has given them for kingdom work. Hopefully these videos will light a fire under Christians with talents in the arts to produce quality Christian art. What do you guys think of the videos?

The Missouri Baptist Convention will no longer fund church plants that are affiliated with church planting organization Acts 29 founded by Mark Driscoll. Why you ask? Because Acts 29 isn’t against alcohol. This is a sad day in the Southern Baptist Convention. If this is where the SBC is headed, it will loose many vital church plants and leaders. Here are some reacations.

Iowa: Huckabee in the lead
Not many people thought that Mike Huckabee had a chance at winning the Republican nominanation for president a few months ago. Now that Mike Huckabee has taken the lead in the polls in Iowa, many political commentators are changing their tune. Chuck Norris has endorsed and recently on CNN said that he found out about Mike Huckabee through Alex and Brett Harris’ blog (Josh Harris’ teenage superblogger brothers). Huckabee showed off his wit and command of the issues during the recent debate. He faced difficult questions such as “What Would Jesus Do about the death penalty?” and “Do you believe the bible is true word for word?” Huckabee is a rising start in the political scene in America.
